Sunnybrook was created with a clear intention: to build a wedding venue that feels like it belongs in Big Bear Lake. Warm, crafted, and designed for celebrations that flow naturally from one space to the next. Owned by Spencer and Laurie Kagan, Sunnybrook was built after decades of experience hosting events and celebrations.
Built With Purpose
Sunnybrook was not converted from something else. It was designed from the ground up for weddings and full-day celebrations, so the experience feels connected from arrival through the final hour of the night.
Indoor and outdoor areas were planned to work together, making transitions feel effortless and keeping guests comfortable throughout the day. When you host your wedding at Sunnybrook, the Grand Room, veranda, and grounds are reserved for your exclusive use. If weather shifts, you can move the celebration indoors in air-conditioned comfort.
Craftsmanship You Can Feel
The character here is real. Pine trees that once stood on the property were split on-site and repurposed into the siding of the Grand Room and the Cottage, grounding the estate in its own landscape. Inside, handcrafted white oak woodworking and soaring trusses create a sense of scale without losing warmth. Crystal chandeliers add a refined glow, balancing authentic mountain character with the comfort and polish that makes hosting a full guest list feel easy.

We strive to give undivided attention to each unique celebration, with only one wedding held at a time. Sunnybrook believes in Marriage Equality and is honored to celebrate all couples.
Your Hosts
Sunnybrook is owned by Spencer and Laurie Kagan. After years of welcoming guests and hosting celebrations in Big Bear at Apples Bed & Breakfast Inn, they created Sunnybrook as a purpose-built wedding venue designed for full wedding days and larger gatherings.
Laurie combines her passion for event planning with a certificate in wedding planning and management, and the Sunnybrook team is committed to the details that make a day feel effortless.
